Description

This video covers an alternative technique for reservoir placement during inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) surgery. Since lockout valves were introduced in 1998, urologists have explored reservoir locations beyond the traditional space behind the abdominal muscles. However, higher submuscular placements can increase the risk of reservoir migration. The demonstrated low submuscular (LSM) reservoir placement with transfascial fixation (TFF) method aims to mitigate complications like migration while optimizing concealment. A key advantage of this approach is reducing reservoir palpability under the skin, an issue reported in up to 37.5% of cases with other ectopic reservoir positions. Overall, the LSM with TFF technique offers an effective way to discreetly position the IPP reservoir while decreasing migration risk and other potential complications. This can enhance patient satisfaction with the implant's concealment and optimize surgical outcomes for penile prosthetic procedures.
