Description
Complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS) is a rare condition in which individuals with a 46,XY karyotype develop a female phenotype due to complete androgen resistance. Gonadectomy is indicated to prevent malignant transformation of undescended testes. This video demonstrates a step-by-step laparoscopic bilateral gonadectomy in a 27-year-old CAIS patient. The surgical technique was safe, with minimal blood loss and rapid recovery. Histopathology confirmed atrophic seminiferous tubules without malignancy. Hormone replacement therapy and psychological support were provided after surgery. This case emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach involving urology, endocrinology, and psychology to ensure optimal outcomes. Laparoscopic surgery offers excellent visualization, cosmetic results, and should be considered the standard approach for CAIS management.
